The Schaeffler Friction Products locations at Morbach and Hamm each have a physico-chemical laboratory within the development department.
The main tasks are:
- Incoming goods inspection: All raw materials delivered have to pass an incoming goods inspection to assure their good quality and, thus, stability of our process.
- Outgoing goods inspection: Lab and quality department check our products to fulfill all quality requirements of our customers.
The laboratories have most modern test equipments and methods available, e. g. thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) an infrared spectrometer with ATR sensor, a thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), an elastograph as well as a significant number of devices to check chemical and mechanical properties of both raw materials and products.
If required, further chemical and physical test facilities and equipments are available at the central laboratory of Schaeffler in Herzogenaurach, for example the X-ray fluorescence analysis (RFA) or the gas chromatography. Furthermore, we use external service laboratories for tests as well as for the interpretation of the test results to continuously develop our products. The co-operative dialogue with our customers results in customized products.
